My wife won't want to go to court.

    She doesn't need to.

Court can be summed up as - "I'll show you mine (paperwork) if you show me yours (paperwork) and we'll let a judge decide"

On this forum there is a rush to an oral hearing as there is a belief this is the "best" way. It is not always but the key issue is to get all the paperwork you can as early as possible via the SAR/LBCC/narrowing the issues route. Then you can decide if the paperwork stands up to scrutiny and can decide no more than 7 days prior to any hearing whether it needs an oral intervention.

Parking charges are not rocket science. If it was all PPC's would be out of business,

Quick update: I sent a Letter without Prejudice offering £42 which was the first amount requested by PE and they have accepted that. In this situation, that is the best that I could have hoped for and my wife has now paid that amount

Not bad, I feel, and I understand.

Next time don't ignore a Parking Charge, come here and appeal/complain to the landowner, and beat it - zero outlay!
