FRONTING it's not illegal

What an absolute idiot you are OP.
Whether it’s illegal or not, the act of fronting is enough for the insurer concerned to void the policy from inception as it is a material non disclosure. This will mean that the policyholder or named driver will be personally liable to any third party they collide with.
Would you like to be pursued by solicitors acting for the third party or the MIB seeking recovery of thousands of pounds for damages and costs because your insurer has cancelled your policy?0 -
But how is that different from seizing a vehicle and prosecuting a driver with valid insurance but not the right class of cover?
Looking at my certificate of motor insurance, it lists all the activities I am insured for, and what I am not insured for.
If the police stop me while I am driving to work, I am fine. If they stop me with a load of pizzas in the back that I am delivering round the area, then the document does not provide insurance for that. Unless I can find another policy document, then I am uninsured. If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -
Pretty sure the police can tell the difference between those people using their car for work, whilst not having business cover, and those that are not - pizza delivery in a beat up Yaris being the obvious one. I gave a DS a lift to a meeting a couple of weeks ago, and first thing he asked was if I was covered for business use. I did offer to point him in the direction of the nearest bus stop, but I as I do have the cover and I think he was joking, I let him buy me a pint after the meeting before dropping him back.0
