You just need to make it clear that PE admit they cannot hold me as the Keeper appellant liable for the parking charge, as they do not use POFA
They DID address the 33 days. They addressed it by saying they dont use POFA for this PCN. THey just obviously then dont say this means you cant be held liable, because theyre not THAT stupid.

    SUCCESS!
After submitting two appeals going through POPLA we have received confirmation that one of the appeals has been upheld and for the other PE have given up. So that's brilliant news. Thank you to all those who helped me with this. So in total, we received 3 parking "tickets" although really we should have got 4. My partner paid one off before I had looked into contesting it and then we had 2 which we won on appeal and 1 never arrived. We have therefore managed to save £120 by using this forum.
What this has also taught us is to always look out for whether the car park is managed by Parking Eye, and if so, park elsewhere!

    Well done!

In fact I avoid any car park operated by ANY private scammer if I can.

And I encourage ALL posters here to cover their number-plate before exiting any ANPR private car park where you have no choice but to use it (retail parks, hotels, hospitals, supermarkets, etc).

Check on foot which way the exit cameras are pointing, before you return to your car, and if they are pointing out, then cover the rear number-plate with a carrier bag until back on street and out of view then stop & remove it.

If the exit cameras point into the car park then you need to cover the front plate. A black stretchy sock does the job well (avoid anything that could get caught up in a wheel of course, no tights!).

It is not illegal to refuse to hand over your VRN on a plate on private land, albeit once on street you MUST display your plates.

I am being perfectly serious. If everyone did this some PPCs would die within months.

Might as well get in the habit of having some dark coloured 2 inch gaffer tape in the vehicle and just cover up both front and rear plates before leaving, quick stop and a quick rip the tape off once clear then :D

I had thought of that idea too! People should do that, as this menace is so rife.

It would work - and be very quick to remove, as you say - and would only need a line of thick dark tape through the middle to obscure the letters & numbers.

Nothing too sticky, otherwise it starts to pull at the transparent skin that covers the plate. Get a split in that and the wind and rain gets in, lifts the skin and the number plate deteriorates rapidly. Then you might get a pull from Plod!
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

You don't need to obscure the whole plate just ensuring that one letter cannot be read will be sufficient.

Good idea. Cover one digit, even a decent post-it note would do the job.

I want more newbies to read this and do it, when visiting Supermarkets etc.

Just make sure the remove the obstruction as soon as you are on street and turned out of the view of the PPC scameras. You cannot leave your numberplate obscured once on street.
