What does a 'Waste Carriers Licence' entail?

I've just started up a removals company and would like to add waste clearance to our services. I've looked into this and realise I need the waste carriers licence to be able to carry this out.
What does the licence allow my company to carry out exactly? Would the waste have to be disposed of at a certain place or can we take it to the local tip?
TIA

Thrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End
You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time0 -
You will likely be turned away from the local tip - you will have commercial waste and will have to pay at a commercial site.
The trick is to charge more for removal than it costs in man hours and disposal costs = you profit.
You'll need the upper tier license.0 -

That is exactly what I'm trying to find out, does the licence entitle me to dispose of the waste at a commercial site or do I still have to pay on top??0 -
The licence gives you access to commercial disposal sites - they won't let you in without a licence.
You'll have to pay for disposal, rates vary around the country.
I pay £40 a go to empty a LWB van. I find I can make a profit on waste disposal but once I factor in all other costs I break even. It's not my main job, just a service I provide to my customers.
Also read up on waste transfer notes, it is likely you will have to use them to record movement of waste.0 -
The licence itself will cost you £154 and lasts for 3 years. As you approach the 3 year point you can renew it before it expires for £105.
Make sure you use the GOV.UK website to register as some unscrupulous websites charge a lot more + VAT (No vat on these licences).
https://www.gov.uk/waste-carrier-or-broker-registration (if in England)
Or telephone the EA on 03708 506506 to register over the phone0
