Claiming off contents insurance for accidental damage

Check your policy for the claim limits: waiting for x amount of months to claim could invalidate the claim. Or waiting a few months to declare a simple claim could be seen as you trying to commit fraud in some way.0

Since all "4K" content outside of cinema's is 3840 x 2160 you are probably better off with UHD anyway. Blurays, netflix, and broadcast all use it. I would sat the real 4k tv's are pretty pointless and just a marketing gimick to sell a poorer quality set.
You misunderstand, not your fault, LG's marketing.
The cheaper sub £600 LG sets use RGBW pixels to create the illusion of a 4k image. Although their TVs are marketed as 4k, they aren't capable of displaying 3840x2160 pixels, 25% of them are white, so resolution is actually 3k.0 -

Obviously, the cheapest option for all is if you let them replace it for you. You need a TV, they have a claim to settle... let them deliver a new one.
This is all based on the assuming that yours cannot be repaired.
As my comment about, the cheaper range of the LG sets aren't 4k. They also use 8 bit screens, don't have the LG magic remote, don't have 120hz capable screens, the panel is inferior and not as colour accurate, and some don't have dolby vision compatibility so it wouldn't be anything like for like. I'd be happy to argue the toss with them. Maybe mine can be repaired, but with a large crack in the screen behind the front plastic, plus removing and refitting and ensuring the 3d matrix filter is lined up perfectly as it was from the factory would probably make it uneconomical, especially if I'm not happy with the repair.0 -
The insurer will probably offer to supply a replacement TV or if you want the money cash you will get a reduced payment. Have you found out how they intend to proceed?
I think you are nit picking about meaningless specs. in order to try and bump up the settlement.
Is it even worth claiming considering you would now have a claim on your history that you would have to declare when taking out future insurance and your premiums will rise accordingly.0
