Can I check I am buying all of the right equipment (assuming that I'm not going to use the sky dish)? Is there anything else I would need?
An aerial

A splitter

F Plugs to connect the cable to the splitter

Coax plugs to connect the cable from the TV to the wall socket (are these male plugs?)

I also have another problem. I took off the wall socket and found the cable wasn't connected. However, I've now discovered I have 3 cables, 2 of which aren't connected to anything and the final one which just seems to pass through the wall box. Do I need to connect both of these to the wall socket, or is there just two cables in case I want satellite and freeview at the same time? A picture is attached below.

You would probably be better off installing a loft box with multiple outputs from TV aerial, DAB/FM aerial, Satellite which feeds them down the outputs, at least for TV and DAB/FM. Then you can have TV/DAB/FM connectors in each room such as bedrooms. There are sometimes 5 or 6 outputs on loftboxes. The biggest problem would be power to it which should really be installed by an electrician. I did this myself although I have not yet installed to any bedrooms because I do not have any TV's in bedrooms. I do not watch any TV either now, I cancelled my TV license.
One Satellite feed can be multiplexed onto the TV signal with DAB/FM also possible which will only use the one cable if using a loftbox. Other Satellite feeds need more cables.0 -

Splitter and f plugs are good.
Check what coax plugs you need for the wall sockets and tv. If you're planning to make your own wall to tv leads you'll need some coax cable.
With the unconnected cables trial and error to find the right one.0 -
Don't waste your money on that rubbish aerial from Argos, it's far from OK!
If you are buying the distribution amp etc. from Screwfix, then buy this aerial from them
https://www.screwfix.com/p/labgear-yagi-mast-uhf-wideband-aerial/33455
because the one that you have linked to at Argos is very expensive tat in comparison!
Also this cable from Screwfix is far superior to the rubbish sold by Argos that you have linked to for very little extra cost:

Thanks all for your help, I ended up buying the aerial, cable, connectors, splitter and mounts from Screwfix (as linked to above). So far, I have connected the aerial to the TV to ensure it works (it does) and will try and relocate this to the attic at the weekend. I'll be back if I encounter any problems!Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0
