Returning Laptop to Retailer

Hi all, please feel free to move to the correct section if needed.
I purchased an Acer Aspire laptop from Curry's today and when I looked at it in the shop the size of the screen didn't seem hat large given that it was a 15.6" screen.
Only when I got the laptop home, I discovered that close up it was far too big for what I'm needing a laptop for. I've had a look at Curry's returns policy and it states that items can be returned in their 'Original and Unopened Packaging.'
I'm more that happy for Curry's to exchange the laptop for a smaller screen size as I do need a laptop, but seeing as their returns policy states the above, am I just going to have to lump it and stay with the laptop I've bought?
Any advice would be appreciated.

Because you bought in a shop you have no rights to return for the reasons you state, however first stop must surely be to go back and ask them nicely?Numerus non sum0

I phoned the local store this morning and because the seal has been broken, they will not accept an exchange. I explained that it hadnt even been taken out of the packaging or turned on.
Even after that they still advised me that they would be unable to do an exchange.0 -
They have no legal obligation to accept your return due to a change of mind. As you say you'll just have to lump it I'm afraid. You'll soon get used to the size, and in fact you'll probably be glad for it.GaryMcEwan72 wrote: »I phoned the local store this morning and because the seal has been broken, they will not accept an exchange. What do you intend using the laptop for?0
