HELP!- missing parcel declaration

Hi everyone! I’m new here so please bare with me!
Last week I ordered some clothes from JD Sport for my sons birthday (which is tomorrow) totally £90. I received an email yesterday morning saying it was out for delivery with Hermes. I was at work at the time so assumed they’d leave it with a neighbour. I got another email saying it had been left in my shed.
When I got home my shed was empty. I looked everywhere including next doors shed! Nothing! So I rang Hermes. They said they have a picture of it in my shed. I was pretty annoyed at this point and simply said “well we have a problem because I have got a picture with it NOT in my shed”. And she put the phone down on me!
So I rang JD sport. They have sent me a “missing parcel declaration” which I have completed. I’ve just got an email saying it’s being investigated and this can take up to 28 days.
Is there anything I can do to speed this up! I’ve had to go out and buy more clothes for his birthday and I can’t afford to wait for this to get refunded.
I genuinely thought that the delivery driver would turn up today with my parcel and it would all just be a mix up! But apparently the driver is adamant it was left in my shed. I get several parcels a week (normally by amazon or yodel) and have never had a problem with a delivery.. even when they put them in bizarre places like under my car!!
Any advice would be massively appreciated!

You’ll have to wait for them to check it out - you can’t judt expect them to refund on your day so.
Legally they have up to 30 days to refund if you’re effectively cancelling the order anyway.0 -
You’re absolutely right! I never thought about it like that.. they can’t just start dishing out refunds to everyone! I suppose I’m just panicking about the money.. especially after having to buy more stuff today. Roll on payday!

No problem at all - I’m an online retailer so have to think of ‘the other side’, but then again I’d never make a customer wait 28 days for a refund / investigation. 7 days perhaps, at most
Hopefully they don’t take quite that long!0 -

Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations, the retailer has to refund within 14 days of being informed by the consumer that they are cancelling.0
