Is it because they are both female? A neighbour, who has a boy and a girl rabbit who live happily together, tells me that 2 females just won't get on.

I can't see anywhere that indicates the rabbits are not getting on with each other. Rabbits can live in quite large mixed sex groups, I had two neutered boys and they were fine, though the easiest pairings are boy/girl, it is not impossible to have two girls.

Anyway, the issue is the rabbits are shy and hide from the OP, nothing to do with the rabbits 'relationship' with each other.
  • I don’t think you’re doing the wrong thing at all. Yes, an animal should be for life BUT if you can’t give them the life they deserve and they’d be happier elsewhere then rehoming them is far less selfish than keeping them and having unhappy buns. I do agree with the other replies though, you should have a shot at changing things up for them a bit first and seeing if you can make any difference to them. X
