We have a non Smart LG television upstairs in our house. Is there a way we can receive the internet on this Television . At times We want to look up things on Google so presumably apart from anything else we would require a keyboard to enable to get the information on the TV Screen. Someone mentioned we would also need an Amazon Fire Stick , a Netgear N300 stick or something else along these lines.. Are these an option and how would it work on our telly. Any advise and guidance will be appreciated.

Mant ways, but all involve an external but that makes you TV perform the function of a monitor.
A laptop, a rasberry Pi, android box.... are just three of a few.0 -
If you just need a browser then, as said above, use TV as monitor. For additional media options (films, tv shows etc) then there are many "media streaming devices"

GoogleChromeCast includes a browser but I've no idea how easy it is to use.If you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.0 -
Am I correct in saying that if you own a non smart telly and plug in an Amazon fire stick you will be able to get Google search on your screen. How do you manage that from your remote control and I am a little confused how you can type in your search without using a keyboard, especially if you do not have a laptop. Could someone please clarify.0

On my smart tv you move around the onscreen keyboard with the up/down left/right buttons. It takes forever.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

You may be able to mirror your phone screen to your TV screen. Using the Browser and keyboard on your phone.0 -

The Amazon Fire Stick comes with a remote control. Then you install the silk web browser app in the fire stick. Typing is done with the remote control and the online keyboard or the Amazon Fire Remote iOS or Android app. Et voila internet on your tv.
Incidentally, if you don't want voice search on the remote control you can get a used old version without the voice search on the remote for little more than a song. There is a voice search in the fire remote app.0 -

Might be overkill for what you need, but I have a Raspberry PI plugged into my old TV with a mini wireless keyboard

On Roku Poprism Web Browser app whixh is text based and experimental.
Another option for boxes with catch-up tv is to use that to watch live tv. For example you can watch live BBC channels on BBC iPlayer.0
