Title deeds

Good Morning, I'm new to this and not even sure I'm posting in the right place? I'm looking for advice about title deeds. Are there title deeds for the house (mortgaged) and title deeds for the land? I am confused how another party managed to get there name on the deeds just buy purchasing the freehold. I would appreciate any help I can get at the moment. Thank you, have a good weekend 🌞

Is your property freehold or leasehold?0

More information needed.
Is it a fairly new build house on an estate?
Did you buy land and self-build your own hobbit house?
Go on ... give us a clue, you know you want to

Sounds like you have freehold deeds and leasehold deeds and you own the leasehold. Most common in a flat where the freeholder owns the land and the block and you own your individual flat as a leaseholder. Similar set ups can exist for houses. Do you pay ground rent to the freeholder?
If you go to the Land Registry website you can see what deeds exist. You can download them for £3 each if you wish.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Hi, Sorry I didn't see the reply, it's all new to me. I bought the house and the years later bought the freehold with someone, but didn't change the mortgage to joint. We are now going through a separation and I have discovered that his name is on the deeds and I don't know how, unless it was when we purchased the freehold together, it's all a little confusing at the moment but something I need to sort out. Thank you0

No don't pay ground rent now defiantly bought freehold but does that mean the the person I bought the freehold with is now on the house deeds too? I got the deeds from the land register and his name is on them? Thank you 😊0
