Doing nails which could have caused a fire. I can see their reasons. I definately wouldn't be contesting it.
You've plenty of time to get to the likes of the CAB is best way of looking at it.0 -
I can totally understand that it's a big deal and on hindsite I shouldn't of done this. Does any one have any idea if I could be sacked or where to look for advice. We do have a 24 hour hotline but this seems to be only for colleagues who want to report something, not actually for help in a situation like this. I can't speak to my manager or any of my colleagues within the company as I've been advised i could be sacked on the spot if they find out I have.0

We can only guess why this is a big deal - perhaps there is an insurance clause you’ve over stepped.
Whatever it is it’s a big deal to someone and you need to eat humble pie and tell them you recognise it’s not your place to break the rules or decide which ones aren’t a big deal.
For future reference, whatever happens, you would be aware if you were in a union - you'd have to join one! Do it! Not now, it's too late to join when you are in trouble. But it's really important that you have someone on your side if the worst happens, even if it's nothing more than a shoulder to cry on. In this case, you are guilty, so the union could only plead for an outcome less than dismissal. But if it hasn't been something you were guilty of, you'd be glad of someone who knows what they are doing helping you.
One thing that does occur to me, which won't save you but... I'm wondering how they found out. I wonder that because of the misuse allegation. That suggests that company assets have been inappropriately used. Did your colleague, by any chance, pocket the money she was paid for herself? If that were the case, you might (assuming it is true) point out that you didn't know, and that you assumed the money was going to the company since it was on the premises, and getting her nails done out of hours might have been stupid in hindsight, but there was no intent to cheat the company of money.0 -

I actually don't have anyone on my side at the moment to be honest. My closest friends all work for the company and I'm not aloud to speak with them.
I'm not sure how they found out. My colleague who done the nails said she didn't say anything to anyone. I presume someone was looking back at the cctv. There was no money exchanged for the nails done as my colleague didnt want payment for them. There was definitely no intention of cheating any company out of money. To be honest it was like a kill two birds with one stone situation. That we'd come in and get set up early for the charity day while she got her nails done, instead of going straight after work etc. It seemed to make sense in my head at the time and I obviously didn't look at the bigger picture.0 -
Your colleague will be in trouble over this as well, thats why you are not allowed to speak to anyone, you colleague has stolen company property by doing someones nails for free.
I don't think you can be held responsible for that you just need to concentrate on your defense.
Make sure you are honest, say you can now can see in hindsight you did wrong but at the time you were only thinking about making sure everything was set up so the company could raise more for the charity.
Apologies make it clear you have learnt from this and nothing similar will happen again.0 -
The charity cake sale is a bit of a smoke screen here and I'm not sure that would have been an issue on its own.
Opening up someone's premises early so your sister can benefit by having her nails done is an absolute liberty.
At least you have the grace to admit you were wrong. I would suggest not wasting anyone's time by phoning up anywhere seeking advice.
Face the music and take the punishment on the chin. Be grateful that this is just an employment issue because I would be pretty confident saying you have broken the law with your actions.0 -

If you're going to frighten the OP with such statements you should at least clarify what law you think they have broken.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

I'm very confident that your advice is ridiculous. The OP understands they are in the wrong and that the consequences may be serious. But there was no malicious intent and they didn't mean to do anything wrong. It's stupidity alone. Let's not scare the hell out of them by telling them they've broken laws. They haven't.0
