All season tyre availability

It just seems to be one of those sizes where choices are restricted. Looking at Oponeo, the only all-season choices are Kleber (£79), Falken (£98), or a bunch of Far Eastern non-brands (I'm including Maxxis in that, others may differ.)
And that's a Polish site that ships here, so you'd think they'd be fairly well up on the harsh-weather options available.0 -
Which side of Birmingham are you? Give tyres r us or flaxley a call and they will have them in the same day or next day.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

it seems very odd that you have lots of choice of summer rubber lots of choice of winter rubber but no choice of all season tyres
seems that the 195/50/16 must be an unusual size and has a limited market so the manufactures have overlooked that size in all season tyres0 -
To update this thread, I rang my insurer (Tesco) today and they seemed utterly unconcerned at the prospect of me changing to a non standard tyre size, and advised that while they will put a note on my record I don't need to tell them when I actually make the change and that it won't cost me anything.0

I can only remember 2 days in the last 27 years when such tyres would have been a benefit in Birmingham.
There is a chance that the OP ventures outside Birmingham occasionally, even in winter.0 -
go to a decent local independant supplier they will get you what you need. If you can get Nokian Weatherproof or Vredestein Quatrac they are excellent.0

I will be going to an independent, but the same issue exists with both of those tyres: neither of them are available in 195/50R16 (although like many other manufacturers they do produce 195/55R16, which is almost certainly the size that I'll select now I know my insurer isn't bothered).0 -
Just stick a set of snow socks in the boot and save the effort and money.0
