Please get some legal advice on this as some of the advice on forums like this is at best misleading and at worst complete nonsense.
I'm sorry if you thought I was being misleading.
It was why I suggested this might be best placed on the benefits board.
No offence intended and thank you for clarifying the rules0 -

Sorry I didn't mean that your post was incorrect but I can see why you are miffed.
Do you want me to edit my posts??0 -
I agree that's only fair, but what is funny, is that in many cases the HB are still paying someone's mortgage, but if it's for a family member it's a nooooo.
A tenant can claim HB / LHA when they are renting a property from a family member but not where the family member also lives in the house.
If you were renting this house to your family and living elsewhere then it would work.0 -

It was not my post, and no I don’t want you to edit. You weren’t harsh it was just confusing as I can’t see anything wrong with the quoted post0 -
Would it be worth approaching the local authority and asking would they financially support you to do this as otherwise they may need to accommodate sister themselves which will likely be a greater cost?An answer isn't spam just because you don't like it......0

money and family should never mix, plenty of examples of where this has gone wrong"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

While housing benefit would stop, DLA/PIP?carers allowance is allowed as income for mortgage purposes for many lenders.

Is it worth thinking about buying with mum or sister in joint names?
However, if mum and sister are in a secure council tenancy - I would leave them exactly where they are, it's more secure than a mortgaged property in the future, and someone else foots the repair bills.2021 GC £1365.71/ £24000
