Multiple accounts shown on Experian

I have recently obtained my first Experian credit check as I am trying to remember my mortgage providers and accounts (with a view to checking PPI). On my report for some lenders, rather than one account it shows 3 separate ones spanning a total of 9 months (i.e. one shown reported in August, one in the following January and finally one in May. I don't understand why this would be as we only had one mortgage. Can anyone help?

Is there only one account showing at a time?
If so, it probably relates to rate or product changes.0 -
So for example we had a mortgage with the Chelsea BS from 1998 (I think). There are 3 separate Joint Accounts showing in Experian (dated 16/8/98, 17/1/99, 23/5/99) which look identical but have a separate Experian identity code. It's virtually the same with Nationwide in 2005 and Barclay's in 2008, although some names are slightly different (e.g. the first 2 under Nationwide don't have a description (e.g. Joint Account) and the name of the bank in the last one is Nationwide Mortgages rather than Nationwide Building Society (MTG) in the first 2). Some lenders just have the one account showing (which is what I would have expected).0

Is there only one live account showing at a time?0

Oh and for Barclays there are 2 shown on the same date, just with a slightly different name (Barclays Bank plc, Barclays).0

Yes, they each have a separate Experian entry code (e.g. L1, L2 etc.).0

They are shown under the Financial Associations section rather than my main report (because they were joint accounts with my wife).0

Nothing to worry about then. Not the nearest way of showing it, but it's not a problem.0

So do you think they are really just one account?0

Yes. .0

Doesn't sound like any cause to be concerned. As there is only one active account at any one time listed on your file, then it accurately reflects your situation. The changes in names, etc are probably just differences in how the data was input into the system for submission to the CRAs.0
