Old Style Daily Friday 31st August 2018

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone
I had a lovely lunch out yesterday and catch up with my friend. We are going to alternate between coffee (and cake of course) one week, and lunch the next.
Today I don’t have any firm plans, although the forecast is for a dry day so will probably try and get out somewhere if only for a little while. If it is warm enough I may go up to the park for a bit of people watching.
I’ve drawn up a list of things I want to batch cook now that I have got the freezer space and need to make a list of any ingredients I need and go shopping for them.
TA.I’m so pleased that Mr TA is home. The GP who organised the district nurse to call sounds like he is on the ball.
Gers I was pleased to read that you are ok after being hit by a lorry, Sorry to hear that your mum isn’t well again. Hopefully the medication will work quickly.
Have a good day everyone.0 -
Good morning and thank you for starting the thread Hollyharvey.
I have slept better though still feel that I'm catching up. I came down to a delicious smell of baking, DS has made a massive amount of chocolate brownies and has used up the entire pouch of mixed nuts that I bought yesterday. Also his entire chocolate ration, though I somehow suspect that might be my chocolate ration for the week. All in a good cause though.
Good news that Mr TA is home and that the surgery is on the ball, hopefully he will pick up now that he's at home and away from horrid hospital.
Gers, hope you are ok.
Sending positive thoughts to those who need support.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning All
So pleased to hear Mr TA is home and the surgery are supporting you.
Not again Gers? That roundabout is an absolute disgrace, the lorries don't fit and drivers seem to be incapable of staying in their own lane. I hope you're ok.
I had a whirlwind of a day at work, got loads done and only stayed about an hour at DDs, it was nice to be home at a decent hour. I went to bed at 8.30, probably asleep by 9 and slept through until 5.15 this morning so feeling quite refreshed today.
It's a friends 50th birthday today so a big party tonight, looking forward to it but I'll drive. I'm a terrible drinker anyway and hate waking up in the morning with the after effects.
The weather looks quite promising today, maybe I'll quickly put the washing out. Have a good day everyone, take care. XX0 -
Morning everyone
hollyharvey - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birhday to those with a birthday x
Light blue sky with sun trying to make an appearance, forecast is for a decent day. although the air is cool this morning, it'll warm up soon. I have a wash load ready to peg out.
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now going, and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.
Dinner last night was beef casserole, new pots, carrots, broc, green beans, cauli in cheese sauce, dumplings for the menfolk. I had veg and meat and then made some syn free gravy, peach and yogurt for dessert for me. Dinner tonight will be baked fish and veg for me, something with chips for the menfolk.
Yesterday was a run around day all day but didn't feel like I achieved much, but on reflection, I did get all the jobs/admin jobs I needed to so all it is not lost. I do need to get stuff done today though, so first thing I'll be going to the SM to do the food shop, then home and get it packed away, and then back to town to visit the building society, then home to crack on with the washing, drying and ironing, and I must do some housework. House is a complete pit.
Still following the healthy eating and hoping I can rectify the half pound gain last week with a loss of more than that - I'll certainly be doing my best as my holiday is not far away and I really want half a stone off before that.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning chums and a bright start here on the Isle of Wight, we are on our way home today after a lovely two weeks and feel sad to be going, but relaxed after our break, and ready for the winter ahead.
I always enjoy my holidays with the family and we have had a great two weeks, but 'real life' is about routine and normality, and I also enjoy that as well.
I look forward to resuming my U3A, coffee mornings, book club, quiz nights and History club and all the other things that fill up my busy life.
I enjoy routine, and am never bored or fed up. My late OH said I must have been born with a large dose of optimism and curiosityI think he was right
I am bringing home enough left over bits and piece to feed me over the weekend (no wasted food at all ) and will only need to buy some fresh fruit and veg tomorrow probably as I am at DDs for dinner on Sunday.
Just looked out of my bedroom window and the sky over the sea is a gorgeous violet/ pink and blue shade of mother of pearl so it looks like a nice day ahead . Hopefully the A3 and M25 won't be too crowded and we shall be home by mid afternoon.
Good to know Mr TA is home ,and Gers is OK after her mishap.
Right time for some hot strong coffee to kick start my inner motor
take care chums and have a good day New month tomorrow and winter will soon be on its way
Cheers everyone

Good morning all
Thank you for starting us off Holly
Gers, pleased you are ok.
I'm exhausted and the day hasn't really started. Took me ages to get to sleep last night and DH woke me at silly o'clock, it was still dark !!
Washing already on the line and a chicken in the sc.
Going to visit mother later this morning, back for lunch and then a choice, housework or working in the garden.
Hope you all have a good dayIf you walk at night no-one will see you cry.0 -
Morning folks.
I'm not injured st all, just completely shocked that it happened, twice in one year yet never before in forty years of driving. The young driver could hardly speak English at all though he managed a 'sorry'. I'm off to the body shop this morning, not telling DM as she'll just worry herself into a right old state. She's bad enough without this.
Yesterday was a fairky dull after the doctor had gone. I went to collect new meds and spent a peaceful time filling up the new pill box for DM. :rotfl:
I hope that everyone is doing well and wish everyone a happy Friday.0 -
Morning folks. Thanks HOLLY for starting us off.
My hoped for good night's sleep never happened. I won't go into it but, suffice to say, I have a mountain of washing to do this morning. I'll just say lessons have been learned with the bl**dy catheter bed bags. I am blaming the massive accident on a different bag attachment to the first night.
Anyway I won't dwell on that disaster and I am just glad a good drying day is in store! Wm now chugging away with the second load already. Now I am chomping away - that's me eating my words, for you who read my posts yesterday!!! A big white van pulled up in the afternoon and a large box was delivered - full of leg bags, bed bags, a stand, disposal bags, wipes and other bits and pieces. The hospital from hell had redeemed themselves slightly and had actually arranged the delivery after all!! Shortly afterwards the district nurse arrived with the bags etc she had promised to drop off! As they were no longer required she went away with them!
To say the house is cluttered is an understatement! Two zimmers, a toilet frame and the bath/shower contraption which I have to fight my way round when I want a shower. Not to mention boxes and boxes of stuff I have yet to find a home for.
I must get cracking soon as we seem to be having a neverending stream of visitors and the house is a disaster zone. The Friday Tidy is no more, jobs will just have to be fit in when I CBA!!
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need/want of them. GERS I hope you are not suffering any after effects from your accident. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning
AOD chocolate brownies mmmm wish he would come and cook overnight in my kitchen
Hope today is a good day for the TAs
Really good day yesterday got loads done and managed to book 2 courses for next week. Rang mum to say the best I could offer her would be Friday next week and she had a full on meltdown. She told me I was doing this on purpose and how did i expect her to go that long without milk (local shop round the corner) Anyway Im afraid at the moment work takes precedence so my decision is work... tough.
Manic day today. Heading up to the lakes soon to meet with my new customer and go through the plans its a long trip so hoping they don't keep me too long I imagine there will be lots of people heading back after bank holiday breaks. Anyway whatever way i look it its at least 4 hrs on a clear M6 which is always agony. When I do get back I have an evening coaching session till 10 so its a long one.
Last night I had a breaded chicken portion (:D) well actually a chicken kiev with beans and crusty bread ...not sure what I was thinking... garlic never good for meetings so have lots of mints with me now. Tonight will be something very fast maybe hot dogs or ham salad.
Hope everyone has a fun Friday0 -
Morning all
Looks a bit dull and overcast here atm but its meant to brighten up later on today.
The patio men are coning on in leaps they are going to start laying slabs today and Monday then pointing Tuesday and then hopefully finish Tuesday, this is all weather dependent so hopefully it will stay fine for a few days.
Cleaner in coming today so I am off out this morning with my mum Im going to take her shopping , she went to M & S last week and got confused by the meal deal offer and bought all the wrong things not in the offer, so she has asked me to take her and show her what to do, we will go onto Aldi from there to do the main shop. Luckily she is not a banana gazer so it should be a nice day !!
DD popping in later for an hour she has a meeting locally so will come on the way back, I will get a cake while out for us to share.
Gers thank goodness you are ok, hope your mum I ok too xx
TA love and hugs to both of you xx
Have good days all xx0
