Worrying about pcn from ZZPS

Hi all,

Ok so basically I parked in this private car park overnight about 8 pm til 9 am for something like 6 nights, thinking it was free but then a week or so later I started recieving loads of letters from ZZPS demanding £60 if paid within 14 days.

I didn’t pay and now I’ve recieved 2 more saying the cost has gone up to something like £140, and assume the other 3 are going to do too.

The company they are working for on behalf of is carpool Ltd.

What are my options? I genuinely thought overnight parking was free, and the letters have been going to my mams house (with my name
Spellt wrong by one letter) where I no longer live, but the car was and still is registered there.

On the pack of the letter they say they have photographic evidence to support this.

I don’t know what to do, shall I keep ignoring? Shall I pay before they keep doubling thrilling etc?
Can they take me to court?

Don’t know how it all works and it’s worrting me espicially now they’re starting to more than double.

Any genuine help is appreciated,

Thank you

the NEWBIES FAQ sticky thread post #4 details IGNORING debt collectors like ZZPS

ZZPS cannot take you to court, as they are not the parking company

all ZZPS can do is send out letters that you can IGNORE

the PPC can take you to court and have 6 years to do so

come back if you get a formal LBC or an MCOL within 6 years

BPA member; a tiny firm we never hear about. Nothing to worry about.
I don’t know what to do
Is the NEWBIES thread (post #4 of it, about ignoring debt collector drivel from ZZPS) invisible tonight or did you miss it? Top of this forum board. It asks newbies to read it FIRST, please.

Learn how you should have appealed it, from the first post. Next time do it right. This time, ignore debt letters from ZZPS, QDR, etc. and come back of CarPool try a small claim (LOL, unlikely).

Everyone is politely asked to read up on this in the newbies faq thread near the top if the forum before starting a new thread

Go there now to learn about the game you are caught up in, how "it all works", why we don't want threads about debt collectors letters, and what to do if this progresses to a court case

And all help you get here is "genuine"!!
  • I tried to read the newbies thread but couldn’t find anything relevant to ignoring them thanks for telling me it’s #4 just wanted specific responses to my specific problem sorry guys

You do know what 'post number 4 of the NEWBIES thread' means, a post that is ALL ABOUT ignoring debt collectors and begs people not to start threads about these letters?

  • No I didn’t know what you meant sorry, I thought I was doing the right thing opening a new post for a separate case I just needed someone to talk to about it
  • Sorry for the double reply, I’ve read it and now I’m just worried about the ‘evidence’ Of me they claim to have, be it me driving into or leaving the car park on foot or in the car.

So I should just leave it now until when/if I receive a LBC or MCOL, whilst the ‘fines’ keep rising?
    Thanks

Is this just a general claim or will they actually have evidence?

YES. You won't get one, but just in case, tell them in writing if you move house.
    whilst the ‘fines’ keep rising?
What fines are those then?! :D

What claim? You'd be the first, they are minuscule!

to understand the nature of the national scam that is parking on private land ...

please watch / read the below ....

and slightly longer, the committee stage

    https://www.parliamentlive.tv/Event/Index/d5550515-cce9-4185-83ec-754dadb7524a

''Rip-offs from car park Cowboys must stop''; unfair treatment; signage deliberately confusing to ensure a PCN is issued; ''years of abuse by rogue parking companies''; bloodsuckers; ''the current system of regulation is hopeless, like putting Dracula in charge of the blood-bank''; extortionate fines; rogue operators; ''sense of injustice''; unfair charges and notices; wilfully misleading; signage is a deliberate act to deceive or mislead; ''confusing signs are often deliberate, to trap innocent drivers''; unreasonable; a curse; harassing; operating in a disgusting way; appeals service is no guarantee of a fair hearing; loathed; outrageous scam; dodgy practice; outrageous abuse; unscrupulous practices; ''the British Parking Association is as much use as a multi-storey car park in the Gobi desert''; and finally, by way of unanimous conclusion: ''we need to crack down on these rogue companies. They are an absolute disgrace to this country. Ordinary motorists and ordinary residents should not have to put up with this''.

These are the exact words used, so you should quote them to your MP in a complaint and ask him/her to contact Sir Greg Knight MP if he wants further information about this scam.

and some quotes from the committe stage

"The other area is hospital parking, and I want to single out one company for some pretty shady practices. That is ParkingEye"
" is very clear to me that there is collusion between parking companies and solicitors’ firms—so-called roboclaims companies. "
"They are often set up adjacently and involve the same directors and personnel. Incidentally, the same personnel get involved in the so-called appeals bodies."
"Essentially, it is a money-making enterprise that takes advantage of motorists up and down the country. They operate in a very business-like fashion, which is why I call them roboclaims companies."
"The companies are jamming up parts of our legal system."
“I now pretty much know exactly how the parking companies and in particular the IPC have been running this scam for the past 5 years. Basically both of the appeals processes are a complete and utter sham, (and part of that sham is Gladstones Solicitors itself)”
"The appeals process at Excel/VCS is run by a team of minimum wage office workers with no legal knowledge or experience whatsoever,"
" It is claimed by the head of the appeals service (retired Judge Bryn Holloway) that this is a completely independent fair process, it is not”
"The letter mentions two individuals—Will Hurley and Bryn Holloway—and concludes this is a typical example of the clear collusion between the IPC, their members and the IAS"
"what we can do about roboclaims companies and solicitors firms that profit, often in shady ways"
" the very large amounts of money that can be involved in such scams—a company called Smart Parking was involved in one such scam on my patch"
"tightening up the rules regarding the unfair use of automatic number plate recognition" "BW Legal, regularly issues 10,000 county court judgments a month, and is known to have issued 28,000 in one month"
"They are jamming up our court system, and are often totally unjustified."
" because the lifeblood of trying to extort money from people is having access to their details."
