slowing playback speed of a dvd

Hello.

Can anybody recommend some freeware that would let me slow down the playback speed of a dvd or cd.

There used to be machines that would enable audio typists to vary the playback speed of audio cassettes - it's that kind of effect that I'm after. (I need to transcribe the words of an interview recorded onto a dvd or cd, but my typing speed is not too good!)

Any help gratefully received.

You may be better off using video editing software, such as the free Windows Movie Player. It will break the scene into smaller more manageable portions to replay
