Hello i have just purchased some wifi enabled games for my kids and have tried to get the Ds working wireless, i have a netgear router from sky and its locked. On the Ds it comes up a grey box with the locked sign when i try to set it up.
can anyone tell me how i can unlock my router so the kids can play then lock it back, i know the risks of unlocking my router but i am not very clued up when it comes to the pc.
so could i have simple basic instructions please i.e go to control panel then etc etc
i wouldnt usually bother but my kids are giving me a headache about it. thanks to all who help :A

You really should not disable the wireless encryption to allow the DS to connect. I believe that the DS supports WEP encryption but not WPA which is probably what your Sky router is set to. Rather than using no encryption, you could change the encryption from WPA to WEP in the routers wirelesss set-up page. WEP is not as secure as WPA but it is much better than no encryption at all. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

you can unlock the router quite easily to change the security settings
1. connect to the router by cable
2. open internet explorer
3. in the address bar type 192.168.0.1 you should then get a dialogue box asking for login and password. unless you have changed them they will be the default settings. (pm me if you need them)
4. go to the wireless tab
5. set up the security to use WEP
6. if you connect wirelessly to your router from your computer you will need to change these settings too.Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today!
Cos if you do it today and like it...You can do it again tomorrow..

Also for the DS ensure mac filtering is turned off (quite likely it is if you've never been on the router before) and also make sure the router is broadcasting a b wireless network as well as a g one as the DS uses b (that was the one it took me !!!!!!! ages to work out why it wasn't working heh). But yeh as earlier posters have said the only security the DS supports is WEP.0
