Declined Car Insurance...

Now I know its such a common topic but I really cant get my head round the solution and I cannot seem to find much information across the web about it.
My situation is such a sticky one and I really dont know what to do about it
Long story short...
I have been driving for 2 years now and have been insured by 2 different insurance companies with no problems whatsoever (Except for a write off I had in my 2nd month of driving). Anyway back to the point... a few months back in June I went to re new my insurance and went searching for cheapest premium. I found a company named 'AChoice' which offered me the cheapest annual price. Obviously I went ahead with the quote but did it through their online application because nobody ever picks up the god damn phone within their company. I received my confirmation forms and everything and assumed all was normal and that I was insured (Me being a typical 19 year old - I didnt bother checking all the information that I had given).
4 weeks down the line I receive a letter in the post that stated that 'AChoice' had cancelled my policy. I was in complete shock and could not understand why.. I obviously called them up immediately and waited 40 mins to talk to somebody. They then stated that I had lied about 2 things on my policy. One was the fact that I didn't state a claim from a named driver (my mum had somebody drive into her parked car) and the other was an incident that I reported in my first year of driving which was not a claim and was taken privately. - Baring in mind I was insured last year and did not have to state this incident.
I am now at the stage of not being able to afford insurance as it is 5-6k LOOOOL. It was genuinely a mistake and I was not looking to be deceitful or cheeky. Does anybody know what I can do about this or a way round to be able to drive within the next 5 years?
Any advice would be much apprenticed

Did you answer the questions correctly on the comparison site? If so, you may want to complain to the site too. Although insurers may argue you have a responsibility to check everything is correct. (Age is not a valid excuse over 18!)
Would the still unsure you, albeit under different terms (price) the full terms were known? If not, you're unlikely to have this changed.
Have you passed the 14 day cooling off period? You may be able to argue, if still within 14 days, that you still had a right to ensure the documents ect were correct and meet your needs (not entirely sure on this). If they would not have insured you, may be harder to argue xx0 -
So 2 accidents, one you the other your mom. Your mom was a named driver on your now cancelled policy?
All accidents have to be mentioned to your insurance company for any driver on the policy.
Results in a higher premium.
As you did not disclose this to your now former ins co they cancelled your policy (insurance companies share info BTW).
Your position now is trying to find an insurer who will cover you will a cancelled policy and two accidents.
Oh, and your age will be against you too.
My brother had a policy cancelled and had to pay thousands for a policy. No policy meant no work....
He went with a broker who I believe was acorn, still cost him thousands but meant he could work.
You need to find a good broker as the mainstream insurance companies wont touch you.
Other option is sell your car, dont drive for several years and start again when you are about 25 yrs old.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.0 -
Why do you say you cannot drive for 5 years?
As long as you disclose these incidents to insurers you will get insurance somewhere.
And some insurers ask for just 4 years history (some just 3)
Your bigger issue is the policy cancellation as most insurers want to know if you ever have had a policy cancelled. If you cannot get covered online see if a local broker (not Swinton) can help find a specialist insurer to cover you.
As far as a choice is concerned then the route to go down is a complaint in line with their complaints procedure.
Then if you are not happy with the response or they ignore you for 8 weeks you can escalate to the FOS for their adjudication at no cost to you.
Other than this not a lot you can do to get this decision reversed0 -
One Accident was my write off which I can completely understand. but I stated that to them and they were fine with that. The other was my mums which I didn't even know about when I re insured with AChoice!!
So the reasons they cancelled the policy was because I neevr mentioned my mums accident and that I didnt mention the incident of somebody else driving into my car which I took provately and never claimed about!
They just randomly sent me a letter in the post saying that they were going to cancel my policy and that I would be uninsured in the next 10 days?
I tried arguing my point and spoke with Ombudsmen but they have checked the T&C's and they supposedly have every right to cancel my insurance. I have checked for new quotes and there is 3 companies that will insure me but its costing minimum £5,600!!
Will this declined crap be cleared in 5 years for me to be able to drive again?
My only other possible option could be to finance a brand new car and get the first year insurance free (The insurers do not ask if you have been declined insurance before). That way I will have gained another years no claims and then it shoudl be alright to insure a year later being truthful that I have been declined.??0 -
See #4.
Cancelled policies on your record are never "cleared"!
You will still have to disclose your accident you reported - insurers ask for your history of claims/losses for up to the last 5 years
Your no claim discount has no relevance to the cancelled policy on your record, or the need to disclose the incident you dealt with privately (that will also be on the shared database!)0 -
