non earner one off investment - which bank?

Hi, someone I know who is over 60, a non earner has recently received a one off amount between £8,000 to £10,000. They want to switch their current bank to another reliable High St bank, they don't use the internet and would prefer to have a local they visit. They need a good current account and somewhere to put some as savings, but can't always pay in more each month.
Does anyone have any good suggestions?
Thank you! Meln

If its down to using a bank or building society on the high street, really they need to think about what is local to thier area, then pick from that bunch.
the best performers TEND to be internet accounts, but you can still get some good ones on the high street too. I suggest you read MArtins comparison article to the left of the page ( savings) and it will have some best buy tables.
Welcome- I notice its your first post :beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0
