    I just used whatcar.com/valuations, it tells me part exchange value is £383 for my car (I instructed the tool that the car is in poor condition). Local scrapyards say £80.

    Are these online tools completely useless? If not there's something off here.

    I think it depends on what you are trading in for as well. For example if you are only buying a car for £1000 then its very unlikely that you'll get a nearly 40% off. If you were buying a car for £10,000 you may get £500 for the same car.
    Some people don't exaggerate........... They just remember big!
