Alliance Leicester (Santander) Loan PPI

Options
In 2003 - 2007/08 I had a loan from Alliance and Leicester. It was for about 18k The PPi was 1500 if I recall. Anyway I didn’t have any documentation to hand but I thought I would try my luck. Santander bought out A and L and now they are now responsible for handling ppi claims from them. Straight away I was sent a letter saying that there was no record of ppi. I swear I had it though so I went searching through old paper work and I found a final statement from A and L listing my initial 1500 insurance and every payment I had made from my bank accounts. I submitted this to the ombudsman and I have chased as they must be under the kosh i was told my case has been escalated to a specialist team which I have yet to hear from but I also called and I got the feeling that the documentation stating that I had insurance was not enough for a payout. My concern is that the bank will say no and the ombudsman will take them at there word but I have the cast iron proof that I had actually had PpI. My question is has anyone else had a similar experience with dealing with Santander? If so is this common back and forth between the banks?

    Wait for them to respond.

    Anyone else's experience is irrelevant.

Do remember that, even if you did have PPI, that does not mean it will be automatically refunded.

In order for it to be refunded any PPI must have been mis-sold to you.

Why didn't you go back to Santander with your evidence? That would have avoided the wait at the FOS. All they said was that they had no record of your policy which is logical after so many years

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
