but next year you will be paying british gas 118 pounds , whereas my premium will decrease.

A servicing will be about 50 pounds if you have done your haggling.

The deal is not for people whose central heating is more than 15years old.

the deal also covers electricity , and drainage failure within property so you get a lot more cover than for bg.
    Inside I am THINKING.

We have BG Homecare 200 which is now £17ish per month. We find it's fantastic, always next day service and always ring you to let you know they're on the way. Our boiler is now 11 years old, in the first 3 years it had loads of problems, then we had a gap of about 4 years with no problems and since then probably twice a year. The parts we've had fitted are often around the £300 mark.Wouldn't be without it.

You have to remember that this will only cover you in complete boiler breakdown situation.

For instance my Mum's boiler has needed resetting about 6 times in the last week. The boiler is in an outhouse with a step down (without a light) and parents are in late 70's. Boiler has been serviced and plumber/engineer said fault was probably due to air in system, which he sorted (bled rads etc).
Fault re-occurred. Most likely needs new pump=£120 (part &labour)

After reading this thread I remembered that I took out Home Emergency cover with Barclays so wondered if I could claim under that. I can't because the boiler is working albeit needing resetting frequently. Whereas if she had BG homecare cover she could call them out now rather than having to wait for the boiler to fail completely.

Another example - my own boiler is leaking water. This was noticed at recent service and attempted to fix but still leaking. I have BG homecare cover so can call them out to fix this, but would not be covered under Home Emergency policy.

Wish I had taken out Homecare policy a few months ago for parents boiler.
