Car Written off

Hi all,
A quick question if I may, which may lead to more questions.
A friends car was written off/damaged by a third party. The third party has admitted fault. Friend's car was insured TPF&T but no legal cover.
Is it up to us to claim off the other party's insurance? I'm not sure as I've never been in this situation before, nor has the friend.

Yes, if the third party insurance haven't made contact with an offer to sort it give them a call and make a claim.0

Forget "us" as it's nothing to do with you!
Your friend needs to claim from the other party's insurance.0 -
Thanks. Would it not be up to our insurers to assist with this? I've never not had legal cover which I'm guessing is the extra cover needed for this.0

Our you mean his?
No, they won't be interested as "your friend" only has third party insurance. They won't be interested in his damage.0 -
The damage isn't to a third party. It isn't fire, and it isn't theft. Your friend could only expect his insurers to process the claim if he had comprehensive insurance.
If he had legal cover, that might or might not mean that it would cover submitting a claim to the other driver's insurers: impossible to say without sight of the T and C's.
In the absence of either, he must claim himself. Since the other driver has already admitted liability, the only issue to be resolved is the write-off value, and any other expenses incurred. No free lunch, and no free laptop0
