Buying a used car, better this week or next?

I am hoping to buy a 2015 used mini I have seen on a car supermarket website. I don’t want to overpay as I am aware the new registration comes into effect in September. They already want me to pay £100 to get it down to my local car superstore and £180 admin fee. I’ve already annoyed them by saying I’m paying cash not finance which I’m sure they make a pretty buck out of . I’m pretty sure I want the car advertised but when I was in the showroom this morning I almost paid to have it brought down then my (sensible with money ) husband rang just at that point and said hold fire until he could look into it for me. So I’ve come out of the showroom saying I will get back to them later today. They seemed awfully keen for me to the transaction before or on Friday , which got me thinking , will the price drop significantly 1st sept? Should I wait a few days and risk losing the car ? Is there someone in the know that could advise please ?

You can't lose what you never had.
Why not make a day out of it and go to where the car is to view it? After all it may not be all the pictures suggest.

I second the advice above. I paid for Evans Halshaw to bring a car down for me. It wasn't as described and there were items not picked up on the photographs. To be fair to EH they did refund me the fee but I had already waited 10 days for the car to be transferred in which time I had seen another car I liked and by the time I rejected the 1st car the 2nd had been sold. Had I had the time I would have gladly gone to see it in person as I could have discounted it straight away.
Some people don't exaggerate........... They just remember big!

Nothing to do with the registration plate, everything to do with monthly sales targets. Rather than the price going down next week you may actually find it goes up as there isn't the pressure at the start of the month to hit the monthly sales target as there is in the final week when they're short of it so there's no pressure for them to offer discounts.

£280 just to look at a car? You could get a taxi there and back for less!

The garage most likely has a sales quota to meet. If you buy this month, they are happy. If not, then as a cash buyer you're not of any great interest to them. they would rather have the commission they get for a credit sale.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

As above, its to reach their monthly targets and get their bonus. If you are buying a 3/4 year old car then the reg is not that critical.
Take your business elsewhere: used Mini's are not exactly hard to find.
