Hi There

I have received a Barclaycard card initial after invited to apply with a credit limit of 1200£ .

I activated the card since a week and I see no Purchase offers or Instalment plans offers . However, I indicated in the application that I will be using it for that purposes.

I called the customer service and complained about that , one of the customer service staff said from my side I will be given you 6 months interest free period.

My Experian credit score is 999.

Any one has similar experience please ? Why I don’t have offers ?

Regards

Hi Kevin and welcome to the forum :)

You have no automatic right to expect promotions. It is good that you got the six months interest free period for purchases. Just don't use that offer to build up debt. Only spend what you have budgeted for in your monthly budget.

Edit: Your 999 score with Experian is meaningless. Barclaycard neither see or use it. They score against their criteria using your application and data held in your credit history.

  • Your score is irrelevant.

Not everyone gets the promo offers that are seen with the cards - they are subject to status etc.

    Ignore your meaningless score
  • Thanks for your replies.

I think I will call them and cancel the card as it is pointless if that is the case.

I see no benefits using it without the Purchase offers or Instalment plans As I will never use it to pay interest .

If you're interested in offers, Barclaycard are one of the better card providers in my experience.

If I was you, I'd keep the card. Spend a little each month and pay it off - I would then expect you to start receiving some offers in the coming months.
  • I didn't get told I had a promotional offer in my letter with the card, or showing on my app, there was a few months 0% on the advert when I applied.

I did however get the promotion despite it not showing anywhere as I have now received an email telling me when the promotional period ends

I wouldn't say you don't have anything just because it's not showing
  • Did you say they have given you 6 months interest free on purchases though?
    Why cancel it?

If you had a good credit file, why apply for the initial card it’s for building credit. There are lots of other Barclaycards will interest free offers.
  • Yes they said that in the telephone but still nothing showing up .

I took the initial card a few years ago, I didn’t get any offers off them to begin with. It was at least 9-12month before anything. It’s not designed to give offers it’s to build credit history.
