PPI with FIAT UK

We bought a car from Fiat UK based in Manchester (Corner of Chancellor Lane and Ashton Old Road) which is no longer there. I remember being persuaded to have PPI over the three year loan period and I think we also got it on another new car we bought afterwards. However, this was around 1988-89 as the first car was an F registration when new.

I realise this is some time ago and due to the time period that has elapsed, I dont now have the paperwork. I am still with the same bank (RBS) that it was paid from, but suspect they won't have the paperwork records now.

Can anyone advise how I would start on this, as I dont have a clue where to begin. The garage we bought it from, and hence the dealership, has changed into a different group of cars and is no longer there.
