Defaulted debt dumped on my credit report for second time

In September last year I had a debt collector looking for a someone who had the same name as me who lived in Glasgow. I confirmed with debtors it was not me and they did checks and said it was not me.
In December I went to buy a mattress and got declined. I looked at my credit report and the defaulted debt had been added to my report and last address Glasgow. I went through numerous checks and the debt company hoist and Barclays apologised and I received compensation. It was removed March.
I went onto my report August and it has been applied to my report again. There has been no correspondence. This should not have happened a second time. What can I do?

Hi Boo31 and welcome to the forum
You need to go through the same process to get it removed. If you have a letter from back in March that confirms the error then you should be able to report it direct to the relevant CRA(s). You are checking with all three CRAs yeah? For accuracy I mean...I work within the voluntary sector, supporting vulnerable people to rebuild their lives.

You should take the above poster's advice and follow the relevant process for removal. This is one of a few reasons that I despise debt collection agencies, as reckless actions such as reporting defaulted accounts to innocent people's credit files can cause serious damage to their ability to obtain their own financial products and can often be a bas*ard to remove in a timely manner.
If this happens again after removing it, I would consider legal action against the originator, as it undermines the trust in the facilities that credit reference agencies provide to lenders.Advice provided from this account does not consist of any professional knowledge.
