Hello Everybody
im in need of some help , I'm very new to cars and don't know how to sell. My friend gave me her car and told me to sell it so I could have some money , which was great but I haven't sold it but I sorned it until I had time to sell. So I'm trying to sell it now but it has no insurance , car tax or mot and it needs to get the pads fixed ( which I have) and I can't drive to a garage. so can I sell the car without insurance/car tax and mot ? or do I need all of them to sell ? and if I need it fixed how can I get it to a garage because I can't drive and no-one I know is insured to drive the car ..? I'm not sure where to start

the car can be sold as spares or repair without MOT, just keep it sorned and advertise it on e bay
the fact that you were given the car suggests that it is an old car that will require some TLC to get it through a test, so the cost of repairs may not be recovered when the car is sold
it all depends on what car it is, age, mileage, and condition as to what the car is worth with a new MOT or is it better to be sold as spares or repair0 -
What car is it? You are trying to sell an unroadworthy car and you cannot drive and seem to know very little about them - not good.
I would give it away to someone else who can drive - or one of the companies that buy non-mot'd cars.0 -
It all depends on how much money you want to get for it. If you're happy with whatever you get, just list it on eBay or Gumtree or wherever stating what it is and what needs doing, someone will come round to kick the tyres. Just don't expect them to want to give you very much for it.0

It is an offence under the road traffic act to sell an unroadworthy car - not sure ignorance is a good enough reason to dodge that one.0

Not quite. As a private individual it is an offence to knowingly sell an unroadworthy vehicle. Not having a MOT doesn't make it unroadworthy, neither does low brake pads. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Local scrap yard will collect and do the paperwork , you may get more than trying to sell it
What car is it , what year was it first registered ?
We can check sold prices on eBay for youEx forum ambassador

Ebay under the spares or repair category or scrap merchant.
That car is maximum £600-£900 so don't bother MOT'ing it and taxing it etc as you will almost certainly loose money.0 -

that's why you sell it as spares or repair because then it is not a car but car parts.
Put it on ebay described honestly with a low starting price and you may be pleasantly surprised as I was with my MOT Fail Subaru with a corroded subframe.0
