Bank lied

With my current account, my bank (Co-operative) sends me a letter every year to say it has reviewed and will renew my overdraft. Last year, the letter made reference to PPI payments. I asked the bank to clarify whether I was paying PPI on the account and they said I wasn’t. I received the same letter this year, and asked once again whether I was paying PPI on that account. This time, I received a letter with an offer of PPI repayment: full refund + account interest applies to premiums + additional 8% on those amounts.
Before I accept the offer, I wanted to find out if the fact that my bank had actively lied to me was a separate complaint, and if there was a way to redress that particular matter as well?
Thanks!

It doesn't sound as if they lied to you. It would have been a very foolish thing to do.
If you have evidence that the redress has been miscalculated, send them your evidence so they can check the figures again.0 -
They did lie (as in: when I asked them to confirm whether any of the fees/payments deducted from my account each month were for PPI, their answer was “no”), and have now escalated a complaint from me.0

That's not a lie.
That's an error.
Conspiracy theories are nice, but they're rarely based on fact.0 -
Realise that you won't be getting anything extra for making this allegation. They did lie and have now escalated a complaint from me.
You may get an apology for their mistake, but you won't be in any way out-of-pocket because you'll receive an additional twelve months of interest at 8%.0 -
I am curious to know why did you ask again when you had already been told that you didnt pay itmake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
If the poster had not asked the question on the second occasion what might have been the outcome?
Having said the above, I also do not believe the bank deliberately lied. It may have conducted a review, located old data and uploaded it to current systems, who knows? But still a great result for the poster0
