Did you get a final bill?
Did you start your switch inbetween 49 days before end date or upto 20 days after
Did you get charged exit fees
Did you get charged a different rate from your fix in that final bill

If your answer is yes to the first two and either yes to 3rd and or 4th then you could well be. Check your final bill and if you were charged exit fees when you shouldn't, or standard rate when you shouldn't then you should get one.

I was charged at standard but given a discount which brought the price paid to the fixed rate, so check closely

These illegal Exit Fee's charged by BG were a major topic on this site over a year ago - Just how long does it take for Ofgem to wake up and smell the coffee?

And how do you think that BG will make up for their losses with the £2.65million refund ?
They are going to increase their prices further still
So its no win for customers - is it - really ?
BG chairman (Andrew Gould) will still eat caviar for breakfast off a solid gold plate and he will still go off shooting commoners at weekends !
He received a £20 million bonus this year - for what ?

MSE your statement about permission to change the meter is not accurate, neither the tenant or landlord own this as it belongs to the meter operator, its actually rented to the supplier.
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.
