Which of my two addresses to use?

Options
Hi, advanced thanks to anyone who takes time to read/reply. I moved from my parents about 4/5 years ago but due to laziness and not knowing how long i'd be there I never bothered updating my addresses for any banks or cards apart from one. For this reason I seem to have two different credit scores that are not linked.

Is it okay and legal if I change my address for this one bank to my parents also and also signing up to the electoral register at their address to even though I have not actually lived there for 4/5 years?

Or legally do I have to go to the effort of changing everything to the address I reside at before applying for a mortgage.

  • You don’t have a credit score.

You should list use the address from which you reside at, which you also be the one you are registered on the ER at.

You should not put your self on the ER at an address you do not actually live at.

It is a legal requirement to register on the electoral roll at the address where you spend most of your time. As you don't live at your parent's house then it would be an offence to claim that you do.

For your credit rating it might look unfavourable if you don't have the wit or energy to manage your financial affairs adequately enough to have them all coming to your actual place of residence.
(Although I could be wrong, I often am.)

You must be quite lazy if changing address with your financial institution is considered a bit of a chore. Thousands of people move house every day and manage to update their address. Is your driving licence also linked to your parents address, as it is an offence not to update this as well.

You don't have two addresses, you have the one you live at. Just change everything to your residential address, it will save you a whole world of grief later on.

It's hardly much effort, would take 1 phone call for me to do it, could even use the traditional method of pen and paper.
Your meant to change your address for whichever banks you have an account with and the address must be where your currently residing.

Did you change the address for your car insurance or your phone network provider ?

You've not exactly done yourself any favours by not being on the electoral roll for 5 years, this is one of the key factors that lenders look at when looking at mortgage applications, or any other form of credit.
