PPI FirstPlus?

I've just received a phone call off a company saying I am entitled to money from a PPI from a loan off FirstPlus back in 2008.
I couldn't remember taking a loan out from anyone called FirstPlus but I did take one out with Lloyds, could this be the same loan?
They said I took out a £15k loan however the one I took with Lloyds was £20k, he also knew I paid it off in 2010 so has to be that loan.
Should I be worried it could be a scam?

If anyone ever phones you saying you're owed money, hang up.
If you have a complaint about about any previous loans or policies, send your complaint to to the lender.0 -

Okay thanks, I'm pretty sure I checked years ago if I was entitled to any refund and Lloyds came back and said I didn't have any PPI on the loan.0 -
First plus is nothing to do with Lloyds and they havent had a name change. First Plus did second charge secured loans.I couldn't remember taking a loan out from anyone called FirstPlus but I did take one out with Lloyds, could this be the same loan?I've just received a phone call off a company saying I am entitled to money from a PPI from a loan off FirstPlus back in 2008.
Two things that could apply here
1 - the CMC has checked the land registry for your property and found an old charge (now settled) and has assumed it is you. This is public domain info. Its clever marketing when it works as it sounds like the CMC knows about you.
2 - just a random mention of a lender. When the caller mentions they didnt have anything with that lender but used abc company the cold caller steers the call to suggest they meant that.
Either way, never act on cold calls. You will only get scammed.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. Yes I thought as much, just wanted to double check on here as sounded too good to be true.0 -
No he didn't know anything. He plucked up a likely date and lender and tried to hook you.welshmatt983 wrote: »he also knew I paid it off in 2010 so has to be that loan.
Never act on cold calls, in fact you should not even listen to them.0
