Not dodgy at all, it's been known for a long time that loyalty no longer pays and that you have to either shop around for a cheaper policy at every renewal or phone your existing company, tell them that you can get cheaper elsewhere and ask them what deal they can do for you. This is the case for insurance, gas, electricity, breakdown cover etc.

Ecactly my car insurance renewal now states "If you have been with uis for a while you may find it cheaper eslsewhere". I'm sure it said that on my house insurance too. It must now be a requirement. (It was cheaper on the car but not on the house which even went down).

Still dont see the scam here, its up to you to choose to look for a cheaper quote, whether you don't for whatever reason is up to you but you know when the policy ends so have the option to get a cheaper quote simples.
  • Have you read your old policy and the new policy they sell? You may find more exclusions in the new cover and that your previous policy provided cover where the new policy may not.

So they are dodgy, dishonest and scammed you but you took out a new policy with them?
