I was on a Scottish Power tariff which I took out in Feb 2016, called "Online Fixed Price Energy April 2017 tariff" The prices were:
Standing charge £0.2055, Day rate £0.11971, Night rate £0.04676
All including VAT
With my usage this meant an annual bill of £458.32
Now the best deal I can find (ignoring tiny companies, I had a lot of wasted time with Flow) is another Scottish Power tariff "Online Fix and Save August 2019"
The price are
Standing charge £0.32880, Day £0.18149, Night £0.08666
With my usage this would mean an annual bill of £750.93, an increase of 63%
It this just a combination of oil price rises and depreciated pound over the last two and a half years? Or has Economy 7 lost its mojo? The night rate has almost doubled in price!

Yes over the past few years the night rate as a %age of the day rate has increased with all suppliers 39% to 48% in your case.0

All prices have risen. You did have an extremely cheap night rate at only 4.6 p /kwh.. Those days are now gone.
The cheapest Eco 7 last year was with Iresa Energy in my area and they have gone bust.
Visit the comp sites. Eversmart Energy seem to have taken over from Iresa as the lowest fixed deals and 2 of my friends who were ex Iresa have just signed up with them.
OFGEM look after us well when a supplier go s bust so I am not worried too much whether a supplier lasts too long. They are only offering a billing service after all0 -
OK, thanks for the info. I'm not worried about a supplier going bust, it is more the time it takes to deal with small companies. I think the cheapest deals are with Foxglove or someone and they don't even have a call centre as far as I can see.0
