Best small business for beginners

Options
I would love to start my own business early next year but I'm still not sure what small business would fit for a newbie like me. This will be my first business venture and if this will work, I will be confident to leave my regular job. Someone suggested food franchising to me but I'm still open to new suggestions.

Does it not rather depend on where your strengths and interests lie?
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

how do you seriously think anyone can offer meaningful advice on such an open question??????????????????

if you do not have a burning passion to set up a business in a trade you know and love then stay in employment
  • Do you have any skills or interests, for example i have certifications working with electric and security so decided to go into security installations and supply.
  • Why do you want to run your own business?
No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...
  • Do you have any hobbies that you like a lot that you could turn into a business. Any crafting. Or what about a skill in your current job that could be something you do as a contractor
To make money work for me
To save and do great things with the family
  • Have a look at franchises, may give you some ideas even if you decide to go it alone rather than buy a franchise.

If you want to try and run your own business it is important to know where your strengths lie. Marketing/Sales/Making stuff. You could always try and run a sideline next to your work now to see how you get on. I would also say - if you go the selling route - to believe in your product and to enjoy it.
I run a small card business (the Old Phoenix trading - now set up as Flamingo Paperie) and setting up in business with them costs as little as £45 to get started. https://www.flamingopaperie.co.uk

I am sure more people will come along with recommendations for something they enjoy.
