Older houses including mine have an an A5 sized vent high up on every bedroom wall and also high on bathroom wall. These seem to work and don't seem to make the room cold. The modern equivalent is discreet vents at the top of double glazing units. Some constant ventilation is important to reduce mould.0

Doozergirl. I appreciate the suggestion but it's not a large room so I would like to avoid shrinking it. Long term I would like exterior insulation also so would rather not go internal aswell.0

A dehumidifier may well help, although you have to factor the running costs along with the initial purchase price.
I would not bother with 'special' paint.0
