@Ark - thanks. It sounds as though that might be what we need to do - if we decide to proceed. I've read an article (which I can't link to) that states that after work has been done e.g. underpinning - nobody will insure you for at least 12 months until they can see it's worked. If true that idea is a complete non-starter for us because no insurance = no mortgage. D'oh
@Cake - 500k is definitely lower than other comparable properties in the area. But 575k, what it went up for in March, is probably about right - given it's in pretty basic shape, e.g. kitchen needs re-done, basic decor, garden a mess. Done properly (and obviously without the f*cking subsidence, I'd say it's probably a 650k house0
