Switching from First Utility Dumb Smart meter

Sorry if this is a Dumb quesiton, but I'm confused.
I had a smart meter fitted whilst with first utility. My current tarrif is ending and I'm thinking of switching. I realise my smart meter may go dumb and the new supplier will not get the readings.
Therefore,
How do I read the meter physically? Can I do this still on my actual smart meter and if so how? or do I have to read the actual meter in my cupboard, (I've looked and my screens blank). Again sorry if I'm being stupid but I'm lost.

Yes you need to read the meter itself - not the in house display.
Some meters are not easy to read - Google is your friend.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
Thank you, I've just googled the meter, solved it0
