Fiat 500 electric fault brake fail

Good morning
Just a short email to see if you will cover my story of the Fiat 500, it's had a brakes fail which caused an electric fault which caused it to catch on fire within seconds, the car is only 3 years old with less than 11000 miles on the clock, if my boys would have been in this back of this car, I would have had no time at all to get them out. I wanted to make other young people mothers etc aware of this has its a very popular car, I can go into has much detail including fire report, I've got photos of the car on fire and burnt out, Fiat don't want to know at all

Brakes failing can't cause an electrical fault.

No reports of lots of them catching fire. Can you stop using the emotional "won't someone think of the children" guff as all it does is is make people just move on to the next post.

Its OK to leave kids in the car when it catches fire, but not pets.

Think about the baskets of kittens....

There are a few on the Fiat 500 forums, mainly set on fire behind the dash though.

Cars bursting into flames seems back in fashion again, I used to carry a fire extinguisher in the footwell in The Olden Days*, I'll get another one.

    * Made the difference between a wiring loom, air cleaner and painting the bonnet and a complete new car once, when the fuel pipe burst (I assume) on the 1300 Maestro.
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

My wife had one of those, the HLE version.

    I'd have let it burn.

I had a 1.6 Montego that caught fire under the bonnet. A chap came rushing out from his house with a fire extinguisher, but I said not to waste it. I was more hacked off that I'd filled the tank up earlier.

They quite often caught fire, I think it was the fuelpipe leading to the carb bursting and the fuel ignites on the manifold somehow (I've had petrol run onto a hot manifold and just turn into a white cloud, must need just the right conditions).

Apart from that, they were great cars, far better than the rubbish that they try and palm off on us today- reliable (apart from the fires), economical, comfortable, springs didn't keep breaking, electrics kept working, proper glass headlights not those stupid plastic ones that turn white if you park the car outside. They did rain in, but that was because of the workforce doing their best to avoid work and not sealing the windscreen in right.

I had an MG Montego, I wish I still had it, that was all of the above and fairly quick too, with the Honda gearbox rather than the wobbly VW one.

What finished them was the Rust, with a capital R. I don't think they painted anything that you couldn't see from the pavement. I swept most of my montego up off the drive over the years.

How about posting the photos? I've owned at least 15 Fiats over the years and currently own a 500x. I havn't heard about any potential fire issues with the 500.
