Just left home: Switch supplier to Bulb?

QUOTED FROM THE BULB WEBSITE
"Important note: Energy costs are going up at the moment, so there's a chance we may have to increase prices this winter. If this happens, we'll give you 60 days notice and you can leave at any time with no exit fees.
Looks to me on variable then and before winter hiking up their tariff hoping to hold on to customers willing to pay more."
I think i`ll give it a miss
Not sure how that makes them particularly untrustworthy, personally I have found them refreshingly transparent to deal with since I started using them, and I know a few others who also use Bulb and have been impressed with them as well.
Obviously if wholesale energy prices rise far enough then any variable tariff is likely to rise.
PS I'm not making a recommendation here, obviously it is up to everyone to do their own due diligence and decide what option makes sense for them, and even ignoring price levels many will prefer the certainty of a fixed rate tariff over the variable on offer from Bulb.0 -
I'm currently considering Bulb. They aren't the absolute cheapest for me, but they're fairly low down.
The prospect of a rise in November isn't great of course, I added different percentages to the unit rates I get now to see if they're still competitive. Provided they don't go up more than 15% they still beat the big six*, so it comes down to how far from the bottom of the barrel I want to go (after Iresa, it's not to the very bottom)
*they'd have to go up 30% before my current supplier's best offering was cheaper!
As annoying as the referral link spammers are, its still worth finding one to use and factor that £50 (or more if you find someone who'll split their share) in to the total price. That makes bulb worth it for me.
That said, I'm still going to wait right to the end of my current E.ON fix in the hope the actual figures of the hike are announced and I can make a more informed decision.3.6 kW PV in the Midlands - 9x Sharp 400W black panels - 6x facing SE and 3x facing SW, Solaredge Optimisers and Inverter. 400W Derril Water (one day).
