HSBC Credit Cards

I've just tried to pay my HSBC credit card (obtained earlier in the year because of its 0% interest - which has been extended by another 6 months) by using my own bank's debit card. HSBC told me that it doesn't have the facility to accept payments via internet banking or telephone from customers who do not have an HSBC bank account.

This amazes me because over the past few years I've been able to make payments to Barclaycard with my debit card without having to open a Barclays Bank account. What is wrong with HSBC? Are they only interested in people who have a six figure bank account?:mad:

You've been advised incorrectly. Payments can be made by on line transfer from your personal bank account wherever that account may be. I used to do it this way before I dropped HSBC.
Call HSBC cards and ask for the account/sort number of the account for payments to the card. This info can also be found on the back of your statement as well. Just use your card number as the reference when setting up the payment.
Telephone payments by debit card are not accepted by many credit card companies.
