Successfully appealed charge from CP Plus

Hi all,
First-time poster, just wanting to say thanks to the folks behind the Newbies Parking Fine FAQ's.

I received a PCN from CP Plus Ltd in the post for staying at a service station for a few minutes more than an alleged 2 hour time limit (I was tired and opted to take a break...). The letter itself looked poorly produced but after some Googling, it appeared that it was indeed a real company, referenced in a few other posts and online stories - unfortunately can't post the links here as this is forbidden for forum newbies, but there was an article in The Guardian online which referenced CP Plus specifically.

The letter itself referenced the ParkingEye Ltd v Beavis case (looked like they photocopied a piece of paper on top of the letter), and said that this case established that their "fine" was indeed lawful.
Long story short - I followed the advice on the FAQ page:
1) Waited ~20 days to respond
2) Copied the example appeal wording in the FAQ post - word-for-word, and sent it via normal Royal Mail
3) About 7 days after posting the letter, I received a letter to say that the fine was cancelled. No appeals or other processes required at all!

Given my success, I just wanted to say thanks to the people behind the FAQ page and to encourage others to appeal too, particularly as I found out that CP Plus is a privately owned company, whose owners paid themselves a handsome £17.16m dividend in 2016/17 from the proceeds of all these fines (you can view their accounts for free at Companies House online).

Well done on your research and your success!

CP Plus can't hold a registered keeper liable, due to their choice of wording and the slow timeline used to send their postal PCNs out.

If people knew this and all used the template, they would ALL win. It is that simple.

Not all PPCs are this easy to beat - but CP Plus, Highview, Britannia, Civil Enforcement and Smart Parking all tend to cancel when they see the forum template.

Nicely done. Spread the word and send people here BEFORE they appeal blabbing about who was driving.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Go HERE, scroll to the bottom and find the text in BLUE, that is your appeal. If you have any further questions it is best to start your own thread, rather than hijacking an old one!
