Switching supplier meter reading
My parents has switched from SSE (standard tariff) to E.ON Go Online 1 Year v16 tariff via the energy club on 14th of August and E.ON says they expect the switch to be completed by 4th of September and they received a email yesterday that they will be in touch in the next few days for meter readings so I'm wondering when is the best date to give them the readings as the switch is on the 4th.
Also, when signing up to E.ON via the energy club, my parents picked the 1st of each month for the direct debit to be taken so should they provide them with monthly meter readings on the 1st as well?

Give them opening readings on 4th. Any time is OK for a monthly read but just after the DD is paid is best as the resulting bills will put the account in a better credit standing.0

It doesn't really make that much difference but best after the credit has appeared on the account. Not sure when E.On show it, some do it on the day the DD is due, others once the payment has actually cleared into the account.0

Hello Jackkz and welcome to the Forums.
As molerat says, readings on the 4th would be ideal. We'll send these readings to SSE so they can use the same ones to close their account and issue a final bill. Makes sure the same energy isn't charged twice.
Also agree, meter readings each month would be great. Whatever timings best suit your parents. They can pop them online through our website or phone app. Alternatively, they can use other channels like Live Chat, phone or the private messaging services on our Facebook and twitter pages.
If your parents have registered with our website, they'll be able to see how their switch is going through the 'Track My Switch' service.
