dell laptop...fan seems on alot more than usual

i have a dell 6400 inspiron laptop
just latley the fan seems on alot more than usual and its ran at the high speed that ive never noticed before
i typicly have msn messenger and internet explorer open
other than blowing the fan grilles out is there anything i can do to make sure its all in order and not overheating for some reason

I'd go with a can of comressed air and blow out the vents as you say alreadyEx forum ambassador

Get a laptop stand so that it is raised off the desk, and can cool more efficiently?? It seemed to work with mine.0

Asda have cans of air for £4.44, tesco no longer seem to sell them.0

Its better than PC World at £15 I think it was £15 maybe £12/13 most other places sell them for about £10 the asda ones are only 350ml but they are cheaper than the alternatives.0

i just took my fan out and gave the grill a brush down,it was well clogged upliving on the "edge"0
