Advice saught regarding standing order not going through.

Hi guys,

firstly I hope this is in the correct place. If not feel free to move it.

Ok. My problem.

I set up a standing order to pay an ongoing bill each month. I set it up fine on-line (I use Barclay's) I checked the account number and sort code of the person I wanted to pay about 100 times. All was fine.

Apparently they haven't received it.

I called Barclays tons of times, and they are adamant it HAS been paid to that account. The person shown me their statment, and I couldn't see my payment there.... but it is on my statement as paid to them on the 2nd October.

Do you know where I stand on this? They are now asking for another payment which I cannot afford. As far as my bank goes it was paid, so I don't know what to do.

It wasn't returned to me, my bank account has enough money in it to cover payment etc... I just don't know what to do....

Any advice will be very gratefully received.

Get Barclays to put a trace on it. It's likely sitting in a suspense account at the receiving Bank somewhere.

Ask to see the customer's statement from 1st October to 7th inclusive.
Did the person show you the right statement?
Copy the standing order details from the internet and show them to the person again to confirm the account details - it only takes one digit to be wrong to cause chaos.
