This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Morning everyone
It certainly feels a lot cooler than it has been. I’m typing this wrapped up in a fleece blanket on the sofa, the first time I’ve needed that for a long while. It certainly feels like summer is drawing to an end now.
I’ve got a new freezer being delivered sometime today. It is another small chest freezer for the outhouse. I do like to have a good choice of food in the freezers and like to be able to make the most of RTC items. As the autumn approaches I want to get back into batch cooking as well, and do some more baking. The extra freezer space will mean that nothing gets wasted.
Other than waiting in for this I don’t have any plans for today, so will spend the day reading and catching up on some TV programmes I’ve recorded.
Specky it sounds like you had a great holiday and really managed to chill out and relax.
Gers I’m pleased that the Abs are starting to work quickly for your mum this time. Hopefully the UTI will have cleared up within a couple of days.
Thinking of all of you who are struggling with your own health or the health of loved ones, TA, Poppy, nannywindow, snoozer, csarina, dumpling, LameWolf. I hope I haven’t missed anyone, if I have it isn't intentional.0 -
Thanks for the start Holly.
Popping in, before I go to bed :rotfl: to send gentle (((hugs))) to everyone who is poorly or caring for poorlies or going through tough times. Have been reading daily & wishing that I could do anything other than just sending virtual hugs & good wishes.
Good night

A traumatic day from start to finish at St James yesterday but worse was to come. DS and I have just got home from the local hospital where we have just left Mr TA yet again. Got back from Leeds and had to ring 999 for him at 7.00 pm. The very same symptoms as when I rang last time and it ended up as urinary sepsis and he was in for 12 days. He was in A & E from 8.30 till 3.00 this morning having no end of blood tests, chest x ray etc, Then transferred to the Medical Assessment Unit again.
We got him written up on the admittance sheet and the nurse said it will be morning before a doctor comes round with all the results, so I suggest you go home and try and get some sleep. I'm glad she said TRY as I now feel wide awake despite having had no sleep,
I am on the sofa now in my big winter dressing gown, wrapped up in a big fleece blanket with a large (very large) glass of wine in my hand and determined to get at least a couple of hours sleep before going back on for visiting in the morning at 11.00.
Night all or is it morning all? xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
So sorry to hear this TA. I hope that Mr TA gets to see a doctor quickly and they get him settled on a ward.TravellingAbuela wrote: »A traumatic day from start to finish at St James yesterday but worse was to come. I hope that you have managed to get some sleep. Please take care of yourself as well. xx0 -
Morning everyone
hollyharvey - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
TA - hope you managed "some" sleep, thinking of you all x
DH and myself now enjoying first peaceful cuppas, I've showered, dressed and just finished my brekkie whilst he watches catch up tv. I'm working this morning.
Light blue sky and hardly any cloud, but the air feels much cooler, I have a basket of washing to peg out which I'll do shortly.
Dinner last night was breaded chicken portions, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg for the menfolk. I had baked fish and vegetables, peach and f/free yogurt for dessert. We're going to a friends wedding anniversary celebration this afternoon, it's a salad tea - so should be able to stay on the diet - it'll be the wine that trips me up! We then have DH's parents over tomorrow lunchtime for a bbq, I still need to buy some supplies for that.
Yesterday I did get the ironing done and the other jobs I wanted although house cleaning didn't come very high up the list.
Keep safe and well x

Morning,
A Lot cooler here, but I am hoping it will be dry today, as yesterday I could not hang out my washing, as it was raining on and off all day.
So sorry to read your news TA. Thinking of both of you. Hope you managed to get some rest, before going back to the hospital.
Back to DM's house - more clearing. Lots of furniture was removed on Thursday, and some more hopefully today.

Oh my! TA- what an awful time for you all. I really hope you got some sleep eventually. There's so little you can do yet it feels terrible just being a 'spectator". Hugs to you and OH.
My aim today is to be at the supermarket at 8am sharp for the three things my DM needs and to be on the road home by 8.45am. My visitors may or may not arrive!
Thoughts to all those poorlies or looking after poorlies. Happy Saturday too.0 -
Good morning all
Thank you for starting us off Holly
So sorry TA, hope you managed some sleep. My thoughts are with you bothIf you walk at night no-one will see you cry.0 -
TA I'm sorry you had such a dreadful day, hope you have managed at least a little sleep. You must be exhausted on top of all the worry. I know we are all thinking of you both.
It us clear and cool here. I think it is meant to rain later - I have to get some washing done but it will need to dry indoors.
Today is our 34th wedding anniversary and there is a gift and card for me on the table. OH'S gift and card are hidden in our bedroom and he's in there so they will have to wait until he emerges and goes to the supermarket.
Yesterday I did quite well with rtc items. I went to hotel ch*colate and bought posh ginger chocolates for OH (yuck I don't like ginger chocolate) and was given a 15% off voucher which I used on some chocs that were already half price, DS will like those. Called in to M*rrisons on the way back and got several Y'S items, including gammon steaks for OH and DS. I'm glad I did as DS was making bread to go with dinner and OH had planned a casserole but couldn't start it as the oven and kitchen were in use so they had the gammon and I'll do the casserole tomorrow.
The bread was good and I've come downstairs to find a batch of peanut cookies. Now we need more peanut butter as it has all gone, surprisingly.
I must get my arris in gear, the kitchen looks like the aftermath of armageddon so I'll blitz that today.I've already cleaned all the dough from the bathroom washbasin, how does he do this? Never mind, it is a positive and useful and fulfilling activity so I'm not going to complain but tge sooner I can locate the right house for us to buy the sooner we will be somewhere with a decent size kitchen and enough dishes and utensils rather than my interim skeleton kit.
I wish everyone the best day possible, with love to those who are poorly or worried, especially those caring for others.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
