MPPI regularly pays out under claims. Most don't have onerous terms and are not an issue. That is in part why most MPPI complaints do not succeed.
However, the minority of plans that do have onerous terms do tend to succeed in a complaint.
Most mortgages in the UK are not put in place by the lender but by brokers, advisers, estate agents. They were only regulated from January 2005. The PPI issue was already starting to be known by 2006 and many stopped retailing it by 2008/9. So, its quite a small window. That said, you can still buy MPPI today as its not one of the bad types of PPI.
If you have additional questions, by all means ask on one of your existing threads but please don't post multiple duplicate threads..
Barclays have upheld my complaint and sent me a cheque for over £1,600.00.
They said ‘they were sorry’ they had mis sold my policy, and my refund plus interest had been refunded.
Not the result I was expecting after the comments on here about mortgage PPI.
Thanks to all you guys to your help and advice.
Happy but very confused! Didn't actually complain and after reading these forums thought it was difficult to get a mortgage ppi complaint upheld
It is more difficult but clearly not impossible. Most mortgages in the UK are put in place by mortgage brokers/advisers. They have very very low uphold rates on MPPI. Banks are a bit more scattergun and you see them argue obvious missold cases but uphold cases that shouldnt be. So, its always difficult to call a bank decision.
NHS workers are fine with MPPI. So, that itself is not a valid complaint reason. So, its probably something else that caused them to refund.
