Ryanair Holidays - Baggage policy issue

Earlier this month we booked a December holiday to Morocco through Ryanair Holidays (a moment of madness). This included 10Kg Cabin baggage per passenger, accommodation and transfers. Paid £50 deposit by credit card, remaining balance to pay in November (oddly no option to pay in full)

Today we understand that Ryanair have now changed their cabin baggage policy, so that non priority customers are only entitled to one small bag about the size of a small gym holdall - not much use to us.

Looking at the Ryanair website our options are to pay an additional £8 per passenger (Priority boarding and luggage) or get a full refund.

Unfortunately trying to add this option to our holiday online seems near on impossible, as the Ryanair holiday site is different to the normal website, and does not accept our booking numbers when logging in (completely different format). Trying to contact them by phone also seems long and protracted - We were on hold for 40mins before giving up.

We're getting increasingly concerned about the competence / integrity of Ryanair and considering cancellation. Our worry being they may try refunding only the flight element of our package.

We're going to try calling again tomorrow, and assume as this was bought as a ABTA Protected package trip, they will need to refund the full amount without any penalty.

Should we expect a refund? anyone else in this situation? I expect that if we hit a brick wall with Ryanair, we could claim under s75 from our credit card company, despite the £50 deposit as the balance would be due to be paid from the same card shortly?

All advise on the above appreciated.

The Ryanair Holidays site has no webchat function, but has an email address. The flights website has a chat function, not sure if they will be able to help. We'll give it a go tomorrow if we get no joy on the phone. Thanks

Do you have to print a hotel voucher, if so, is there a name of a bed bank on it?

Have you tried to access the flight booking element on the Ryanair.com site (rather than via the holidays site) to add the cost of the bag?

We have printable accomodation vouchers but there doesn't seem to be any mention of bed banks?

Yes we have tried to log into the flights page, the reference numbers for holidays do not allow you to log in. The reference numbers are all digits and do not start with letters.

Are you sure that the RyanAir policy change applies to you as a customer of RyanAir holidays? Personally, I would be ask to RyanAir Holidays to confirm that it does not and that they will cover the cost for you to take the cabin baggage you want to take.

If they won't cover this, you should be able to cancel for breach of contract and get your deposit back.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.
